As you go on, and cross under the Rio – Niteroi bridge, you can see the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, the Santos Dumont airport, and the three forts that were built to protect the city, the São João Fort, Lajes Fort and Santa Cruz Fort. The big city, from afar sounds rather quiet and peaceful and the views of Rio from the sea are just breathtaking. As you circle back, you will come across the city of Niteroi, on the other side of the bridge side, from here you will have one of the best views of Rio de Janeiro. There take some time to take mental snapshots of beautiful Rio and actual Snapshots to show it to friends and family.
You will sail to see the most beautiful landscape of Rio. It is the largest bay of the world in volume of water, it has several islands, as the Governor’s island, Fundão and Snakes island. During our tour if you are looking to let off some steam, just help yourself with the bar inside the boat, where you can buy caipirinhas and others alcoholic drinks or sodas and water. But we offer season tropical fruits, such as watermelon and pineapples for free!
After heading back, you will drive back through Aterro do Flamengo from where you can see the beautiful Sugar Loaf in all its glory, before arriving at a traditional Barbecue Lunch, all you can eat style. Brazilian Churrascarias (Barbecue places) offer a wide variety of sides and alternative options. In case you decide to stick with a vegetarian option, you will still leave delighted.
After lunch, we will make our way to Cosme Velho neighborhood within a van riding up to Corcovado Mountain through the lush and dense Tijuca rainforest to the towering Christ Redeemer statue. Standing guard over the city of Rio, up to 38m tall (125ft).Looking up you will feel blessed and protected by this beautiful monument of Christ with open arms. now one of the new Seven Wonders of the World! From up there you can see most of the town, all of the south zone and all the way to Niteroi. It is a unique view that will astound you. You will have about 40 minutes to get to know all the sides and views of Corcovado and Its worldwide known Christ Statue.
After visiting the Christ Statue, you will take a van ride to Santa Teresa, a neighborhood where laid-backness and tradition meet. But it also brings you street art, such as the amazing Selaron Steps. The beautiful steps done in ceramic by artist Jorge Selarón are one of a kind. You will have about 10 minutes or so to contemplate it before continuing your tour.
The last main sight visited will be the Sugar Loaf Mountain. You’ll travel all the way to the top in two steps by cable car. The first cable car takes you to Urca Hill, a vantage point 215 meters high for which already grants beautiful views of Guanabara Bay and its islands, Flamengo and Botafogo beaches, Santos Dummont Airport, the Rio-Niterói Bridge, Urca’s neighborhood and Corcovado Mountain. At Urca hill you will visit the first cable cars used at 1912, made by Germans, and the second ones, from 1972, made by Italians.
From this stage, a second cable car takes you up to the top. When you get there, you will understand why Rio is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. At 395 meters you’ll enjoy breath taking views from Copacabana beach, several beaches of Niterói and the Santa Cruz fortress, which was during the colonial times and Brazilian Empire the main defensive structure of Guanabara Bay and the Port of Rio de Janeiro.
Explore Urca and Sugar Loaf hills for about 45 minutes. You can catch up great views of the charming city, see the native rainforest and take your best photo shots ever. As the sun starts to set you can can prepare to be amazed. You will be mesmerized by the different shades of orange, red and pink as the sun sets behind the mountains.
After riding the van back down, guests will make their way back to their hotels. There is no more complete day in Rio than this. You will have seen Rio from the Sea, From Corcovado Mountain and Christ Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf and still get to know the amazing Selaron Steps. A full circle of Rio in a day.
