Your journey starts with a lovely drive from Medan through the gorgeous palm and rubber plantations of Langkat Regency. As you leave the city behind, you'll find yourself surrounded by lush tropical greenery, leading you to the remote village of Tangkahan. Tangkahan is known for its inspiring conservation history, and it's become a hub for ecotourism and wildlife preservation.

Once you get there, you can walk through the rainforest to the elephant sanctuary, which is located by the riverside. You'll have the amazing chance to bathe and interact with the elephants in a natural and ethical setting.
