1. Visit the Iconic Colosseum Monument

The ancient Colosseum is the most iconic attraction in Rome. Completed in 80 AD, the largest historic amphitheater ever constructed and was used to host brutal entertainment between gladiators for classical Romans. The kids will be enthralled by the history of this masterpiece of engineering. You'll be able to take a guided tour of the Colosseum and learn about the gladiatorial games and the daily life of ancient Rome.

2. Explore the Vatican City

The Vatican City is a sovereign city-state that is a must-visit in Rome. It is one of the grandest and most beautiful locations and you'll be able to visit St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. These are full of some of the most important art ever created and protected by the traditionally dressed Swiss Guards armed with halberds.

3. Visit the ancient Pantheon temple

The Pantheon is one of the best-preserved buildings from ancient Rome. An ancient temple that's been transformed into a church, it is famous for its huge dome with a large opening to allow a beam of light through. The Pantheon holds the graves of Italian kings and some of the nation’s great artists, including Raphael.

4. Take a stroll down the Spanish Steps

Right at the heart of Rome lies the most famous staircase in the world. The Spanish Steps are an iconic monumental stairway connecting Piazza di Spagna to the Trinità dei Monti church. At their base is the stunning Fontana della Barcaccia. The squares are full of excellent cafés and restaurants where you can watch the world go by.

5. Toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain

The 18th-century Trevi Fountain is one of the most famous in Rome. At its center stands Oceanus, a Greek god who was overthrown. For good luck and to ensure that you'll return to Rome, you can use your right hand to throw a coin over your left shoulder into the fountain.

6. Explore the Trastevere neighborhood

Trastevere is one of Rome’s most fashionable neighborhoods. Known for its charming narrow streets and beautiful architecture, it’s full of pubs and restaurants that fit its character. It's a fantastic place to get a little bit lost and take the kids to discover daily life in Rome.

7. The Roman Forum - Visit the ancient ruins:

The ruins of the Roman Forum were once a market and meeting place at the center of the city. It is the location of some of Rome’s most ancient temples, arches and buildings. You'll see the ancient ruins, including the Temple of Saturn and the Arch of Titus, and imagine the hustle and bustle of ancient Roman life.

8. Enjoy the sights of Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona is one of Rome’s largest squares and is a superb place to enjoy its architecture. The square stands on the space of a former stadium, is surrounded by incredible buildings and is full of beautiful fountains. One of those is the famous Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, or the Fountain of the Four Rivers.

9. Take a stroll through the Villa Borghese

The grand landscaped gardens of the Villa Borghese are the perfect place to take a stroll close to the Spanish Steps. The gardens are full of temples, lakes and museums. Take some time to stop at the Galleria Borghese which houses masterpieces by Bernini, Raphael, and Caravaggio.

The spooky Catacombs of Rome are underground tombs that are roughly 1,800 years old. They are important locations for early Christian art and architecture and brilliant places to take the kids to inspire a love of history.
