The journey begins at Tian’anmen Square. Known as the “Emperors Way” in Imperial times it is now at the very center of the modern city of Beijing and the location of the national flag, the most important symbol of modern China. Then continue through to the Forbidden City. The home to the last 3 Chinese dynasties for over 800 years. The ancient Chinese believed that The Forbidden City sat at the center of the universe and the site is the largest single imperial palace in the world today. Its’ “thousands of brilliant rooms”, have seen countless battles and reconstructions. The main architecture you see today dates back to the early 15th century during the Ming Dynasty and it was constantly upgraded throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties. The palace showcases the splendor and majesty of the Chinese Imperial Court in its full glory and features elaborately carved motifs, statues, paintings, thrones and exquisitely constructed rooms, temples, and exhibition gardens.
