Itinerary
A scenic route across the border takes you through some picturesque villages of the rural Bosnia and Herzegovina as you approach the fantastic little city – Počitelj. This small medieval town was built on a rocky cliff on Neretva River and it gives a great overview of the Ottoman Empire and the effect of the eastern culture on the small town in this zone. Počitelj is a mixture of Oriental and Mediterranean construction styles what gives this town a special dimension. Počitelj is mentioned ... See more

I booked this trip in England and was kept well informed of the tour details. I was staying in Trogir so about 6 of us were transferred to Split at 06:30 where we joined others who were staying in Split. There were about 15 of us in total on a comfortable minibus. We met our tour guide Ivanka and driver Micky.Ivanka was the most enthusiastic, entertaining , knowledgable and friendly tour guide. The border crossing went smoothly as Ivanka had collected our passports and did the necessary paper work en route. This was not peak season in early May and I understand there can be delays at he border particularly in high season. We stopped at a small interesting village where I enjoyed a Bosnian coffee and a walk up to a mosque. Local people were selling delicious soft fruit and handicrafts here. We were made very welcome to try the fruit The cherries were delicious. Continuing on to Mostar in the safe driving hands of Micky we arrived there mid morning. Ivanka introduced us to local guide Peter who explained the history of Mostar very well as we walked around the cobbled streets. He took us to a view point beneath the famous bridge where we could see the young men preparing to dive off the bridge into the cold 8C. fast flowing river below. The prolonged preparation and posing before diving allows for enough time to collect tips . I did not see a dive while I was there but it is a remarkable feat for the protectors of the bridge. At 13:00 there was the “call to prayer” echoing around the town. There was about 2 1/2 hours of free time after Peter finished his tour ( this would be dependant on border crossing time).Plenty of time to explore where East meets West where I think I’m right in saying about half the population is catholic and the other half Muslim.I met up with 4 others in our group for lunch at a recommended restaurant by the steps leading down to the river. The choice on the menu was very good and prices very reasonable . There was no need to change money into the local currency as euros were widely accepted. Our tour of Herzegovina then continued with Ivanka and Mickey To the Kravice waterfalls . An amazing natural feature with quite a steep climb down to the base of the falls where you could have a swim and enjoy a refreshing drink in the cafe bar there. From the falls Micky took us on an interesting back road route to the border and on to Spilt. At Split our driver was ready for those transferring on to Trogir.A fabulous tour. Well done Graylines, Ivsnka and Micky
