Our outing begins with an exploration of Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia are pulling apart, which means you can literally stand between the two continents in the middle of nowhere. We’ll visit one of Iceland’s largest natural lakes and learn the remarkable story of how our nation’s first parliament was formed over a thousand years ago.
Next, we move on to the awesome Gullfoss waterfall, where you can take a short walk down a pathway and get close enough to feel the mist of glacial water on your skin in summertime. Gullfoss is a powerful waterfall with a rich history that our expert guides will share with you.
Last stop on the Golden Circle is Geysir geothermal area, home to the geyser that all other geysers are named after. Another geyser there, Strokkur, is very active with eruptions every few minutes so you are guaranteed an opportunity to see an eruption up close.
Next up, we will head back to Reykjavík for the geothermal spa part of the tour. At the Gray Line Terminal you will hop on the Blue Lagoon bus which takes you to the otherworldly experience.
Our last stop is the Blue Lagoon where you can relax with a dip in the healing milky blue waters. Pamper yourself with a silica mud mask, or float around with a drink in your hand. This heavenly spot sits in spectacular surroundings formed of deep, black lava fields stretching out before you.
