Optional St. Peter’s Basilica supplement Add one more hour to the tour and get inside St. Peter’s Basilica that houses, among other artworks, the G. L. Bernini’s canopy near the altar and the Pietà by Michelangelo. The tour wouldn’t be complete without a walk in St. Peter’s Square, the open space before the basilica, redesigned by G. L. Bernini, an architectural masterpiece of the Baroque age.
